Buildings is a large category encompassing both stuff you can construct at The Tower that provides a lot of useful functionality, like the Loading Bench or Research Mechana, decorative items that just make the space look nice and sometimes block passage until broken down into base components, to Godsmachines of a bygone age and even Chaos structures, like rifts!
All buildings placed at the Tower are permanent. Any placed during an expedition are lost, on account of the end of the world.
Crafting stations[]
- Loading Bench: A wizard's primary tool for crafting bullets and powders for their guns. New bullets and powders for the loading bench can be unlocked at research stations.
- Arcane Annihilator: Destroys items and converts them into raw arcana.
- Cauldron: Mix different ingredients into potent and useful poisons.
- Evaporator: Purifies liquids by evaporating them into separate flasks.
- Composter: The composter decays plants and fruits into vitae, the basic element of life.
- Furnace: Converts some resources into others by making them very hot.
- Lightning Furnace: Converts ingots into charged ingots.
- Sewing Mechana: Applies Enchantments to Equipment
- Potion Brewing Station: Turns resources into consumable potions.
Research stations[]
- Research Mechana: This massive mechana was built in the early days of gunmancy to aid in spell research. Once state-of-the-art, it's since been replaced with newer research tables. It remains a great educational resource to beginner gunmancers.
The Research Mechana unlocks access to bullets and research tables:
- Fire Research Station: Learn the secrets of the Sorcerer here. Sorcerers study untamable fire.
- Frost Research Station: Study the Alchemist school here. Alchemists chill their enemies into submission.
- Poison Research Station: Learn the secrets of the Warlock here. Warlocks kill slowly with poison.
- Life Research Station: Study Magus magic here. The Magus school lives in harmony with nature.
The second, advanced tier:
- Lightning Research Station: Channel the power of electricity, but be wary of collateral damage.
- Physics Research Station: Sometimes, a wizard just has to go bowling.
- Disease Research Station: The cruelest of Warlocks inflict diseases and disorders before death.
- Order Research Station: Order is the inverse of Chaos; an arcane manifestation of justice.
The following bench must be discovered in The Tower first:
- Ground Construction Research Bench: Learn how to build and destroy floor tiles.
Storage[]
- Arcana Bank: Store and safeguard your extra arcana for later use.
Godmachines[]
- Soul Tether: A godmachine used to safeguard the souls of those who use them.
- The Chronomancer's Wheel: An ancient godmachine used to roll back time. The process is chaotic and sometimes produces unexpected results based on whether the cause of an event is still in the world or in the Tower. As a safeguard put in by the gods, all tethered beings must be in the Tower for the Wheel to roll back.
- Doorway: When charged with Arcana, these doorways lead back to the Tower.
- Statue of Flora
- Statue of Alchemi
- Statue of Magus
- Statue of Solus
- The Oculus
Map only[]
- Map Altar: Reveals the map
- Dormant Rift: These dormant Chaos Rifts activate when they detect your presence. It's as if they sniff the magic on you. When defeated, they implode into an orb that removes a large amount of Chaos.
- Ambush Rift: Something is sending these small rifts to hinder your progress. They only appear at nighttime, or after Chaos has reached its peak. These rifts are certainly a nuisance, but when defeated, they implode into an orb that removes a small amount of Chaos.
